Lowry Building & Civil Engineering were employed by the Trustees of Mill Strand Integrated Primary School and tasked with the design and build of redeveloping a 4.5-acre brown field site to provide a state of the art 14 classroom primary school and double nursery unit.
The new build school, providing accommodation for over 450 pupils and 65 staff members, is built around a central courtyard meaning that both the school and nursery provides a sheltered outdoor learning environment for all occupants, while still ensuring that every classroom, resource area, and corridor is flooded with natural daylight.
The project required full compliance with the Education Authority’s Handbook, BREEAM Excellent rating, and the most recent Building Control Regulations including energy performance and efficiency.
